Wild Heart began as a spontaneous Studio Journal session — an exploration of colour, movement and texture without a planned outcome.
Sweeping layers of burgundy, blush pink, warm cream, earthy brown and flashes of vibrant orange gradually built across the canvas. Working intuitively with a palette knife, I layered, scraped and pulled the paint across the surface, allowing earlier colours and marks to remain visible beneath.
As the painting evolved, the circular movement became its heart — energetic, expressive and imperfect, with every layer leaving traces of what came before.
Wild Heart feels quite different from my recent Ocean & Earth works and marks the beginning of a new exploration into bolder colour, movement and composition.
